American Soldier

Image
A. I think this is the most powerful image from the website because you can see the emotion of everyone in the image, even if you can't see their face. Also, the picture uses balance because the people on the left side of the picture, who are probably the boy's parents, balance with the three boys on the right side. B. The images work together to tell a story because you can tell what the story is by just looking at the pictures. The images are so powerful that the reader doesn't even need to read anything, they could just look at the pictures and it would give the same effect. C. The captions enhance the photographs by explaining the emotions expressed in the pictures. The reader could tell what the story is behind the picture, but the captions helps to express the emotions and reasoning behind it. D. Ian Fisher is an army recruit. He has trouble saying bye to his friends and family and isn't even sure if he wants to go through with it. Once he ge...

Rules of Photography Part II

Image
Rule of Thirds: This is Rule of Thirds because the subject which is the flower is not directly in the center of the photo which makes for a more interesting picture to look at. Balancing Elements: This pictures shows balance because there are two flowers, not just one, so it makes you look at the whole photo and not just in one spot like if it was a Rule of Thirds picture. Leading Lines: This pictures shows leading lines because the parts with not flowers create lines that lead your eye  right to the subject which is the wind mill in the background. Symmetry and Patterns (Repetition) : This picture shows symmetry and patterns because, from the middle of the flower, the petals all go out in different directions which creates a patterns which is pleasing to the eye. Viewpoint: This picture shows viewpoint because the photographer took the picture from the bottom of the flower instead of from the to...

Grandpa Billy is making a silly face in his house on a chilly winters day in 2015. Earlier that day, he realized his eyes could look in two different directions at the same time!  Grandpa Joe is playing an accordion on a warm summers day. He has lost his teeth and his mind! Great Uncle Willy is sitting on the sidewalk, playing instruments, and wearing too many clothes! Earlier that day, he got excited and bought all this stuff for his grandchildren during a garage sale!

Abandoned Theme Parks

Image
1. I would like to go to New Orleans abandoned Six Flags amusement park because it's eerie and spooky. It would be a great place to take pictures if you wanted to have kind of a scary feel to your photos. There would probably be a lot of opportunities to use the rules of photography like framing and lines and rule of thirds. 2. This is from Six Flags abandoned theme park in New Orleans. 3. Some other unusual places people to photograph could be inside tunnels where there is graffiti, abandoned warehouses, prisons, camp sites, and hospitals or insane asylums.  4.  Some people have already taken pictures inside of tunnels where there is graffiti. 5. I think it would be really fun to photograph this location. This is because there's tons of graffiti anywhere you go so it wouldn't be too hard to find a place to photograph. Also, it would be fairly easy to use the rules of photography like simplicity, rule of thirds, avoiding mergers, lines, and mor...

African Animals By Nick Brandt

Image
1. The pictures that I saw in the slideshow are amazing. I noticed a ton of the photography rules being used like rule of thirds or simplicity. I also kept thinking about how the photographer had his camera set up in terms of shutter speed, aperture, and ISO. I think it would be very cool to be able to do a shoot like that. 2. 3. I really like this picture by Nick Brandt because of the depth of field. It's a picture of giraffes lying down in tall grass. The front most giraffe is in focus but there are at least two more in the background that are blurry.  4. This photo by Nick Brandt uses the rule of photography, rule of thirds. The rule of thirds means that the subject is not in the very center of the photo, but slightly off center which makes for a more interesting picture to look at.  5. Nick Brandt uses a Pentax 67 camera with a modified lens which created a soft focus. This might be important because since the camera is older, that's why the photos he takes are in...

Warm Up

1. For the first few photos, I felt happy seeing people enjoy their lives. By the time I realized what was going to happen, I started to feel sad but hopeful that Jennifer would get better and beat her cancer. I soon found out that that was not the case and it made me upset. 2. I think that quote means that the photos do not define them in the way that those pictures were not all that they went through together, but the pictures are them in the way that that stuff actually happened to them and changed their lives forever. 3. I think if i was in this situation, I wouldn't shoot pictures like these because I would be focused on the problem at hand, but I', glad the photographer did capture these moments because it's eye opening. 4. If I could write Angelo a letter, I would tell him, even though everyone probably says this to him, that I'm so sorry that he lost someone so close to him. I would also say that he was/is very strong to be able to go through that and also...

Great Black and White Photographers Part III

Image
1. What first caught my eye with Robert Doisneu's pictures was that all of his photos seem so real. None of them look posed or arranged, it's just like the camera just happened to be there while something eventful was happening. I call this picture, "Kids Playing" I call this picture, "The Kiss". 2.  Kids Playing: Imagining that I was there when that picture was taken, I would see the Eiffel Tower in which the kids are playing in front of. I would also see the kids playing. The beautiful view of the architecture will also be in sight. I would smell some kind of sugary sweet that the kids ate earlier in the day so that they have lots of energy. Maybe they had a popsicle or a bar of chocolate. The sugary scent would come off of them as they rolled by the camera taking the picture. I would hear the kids screaming playfully as they ran around. Eventually, they might get tired and the sound of them playing will fade. Once they get their en...

Mural Project Preview

1. A couple cool ideas could be graffiti, trees, or benches. 2. Three things I will have to think about when doing a manual shoot are the ISO, shutter speed, and aperture settings. 3. One way we could get our pictures online could be to make our own website for the class to showcase all the creations we have. Another idea could be to upload our pictures to social media like Instagram, snapchat, or Facebook. Lastly, we could make a slideshow of all our pictures we have taken.
