1. The pictures that I saw in the slideshow are amazing. I noticed a ton of the photography rules being used like rule of thirds or simplicity. I also kept thinking about how the photographer had his camera set up in terms of shutter speed, aperture, and ISO. I think it would be very cool to be able to do a shoot like that.

3. I really like this picture by Nick Brandt because of the depth of field. It's a picture of giraffes lying down in tall grass. The front most giraffe is in focus but there are at least two more in the background that are blurry.
4. This photo by Nick Brandt uses the rule of photography, rule of thirds. The rule of thirds means that the subject is not in the very center of the photo, but slightly off center which makes for a more interesting picture to look at.
5. Nick Brandt uses a Pentax 67 camera with a modified lens which created a soft focus. This might be important because since the camera is older, that's why the photos he takes are in black and white which makes for a more impactful picture.
6. Nick Brandt's reason for taking these photos is because he said he feels very moved every time he visits Africa and sees the animals. He also wanted people to become aware of the dangers these animals are facing.
7. His hope by taking these types of photos is that people will be impacted by them and try to make a change. Most of the animals he photographs are very endangered and he hopes to raise awareness.
8. "There is something profoundly iconic, mythological even, about the animals of East and southern Africa. There is also something deeply, emotionally stirring and affecting about the plains of Africa—those vast, green rolling plains punctuated by graphically perfect acacia trees under the huge skies."
