Great Black and White Photographers Part III

1. What first caught my eye with Robert Doisneu's pictures was that all of his photos seem so real. None of them look posed or arranged, it's just like the camera just happened to be there while something eventful was happening.

I call this picture, "Kids Playing"

I call this picture, "The Kiss".
2.
Kids Playing: Imagining that I was there when that picture was taken, I would see the Eiffel Tower in which the kids are playing in front of. I would also see the kids playing. The beautiful view of the architecture will also be in sight. I would smell some kind of sugary sweet that the kids ate earlier in the day so that they have lots of energy. Maybe they had a popsicle or a bar of chocolate. The sugary scent would come off of them as they rolled by the camera taking the picture. I would hear the kids screaming playfully as they ran around. Eventually, they might get tired and the sound of them playing will fade. Once they get their energy back, the screaming will come back just as fast as it left. I would taste cigarette smoke from the smoke lingering in the air. In France, smoking is pretty popular, so the smell would hang in the air. The smell would roll back onto my tongue and it would be as if I'm tasting the cigarettes. I would feel the air rush by me when the kids rolled by fast. I would also feel a sense of happiness as I see the children playing just like I use to do.

The Kiss: Imagining that I was there when that picture was taken, I would see the beautiful buildings surrounding the area where everyone was standing. I would see the women waiting for their husbands to come home from the war. The couples would be seen hugging and kissing each other just like the picture shows. I would smell the flowery perfume coming off of the women. I might also smell some baked good the women made for the expected husbands. I would hear the cheerful screams of the women as their husbands came home from war. I might also hear the sound of the train or cars that bring the men back from the war. Crying might also be heard when a women finds that her husband hasn't come home yet. I would taste the cigarette smoke that hangs in the air. The women might be stressed out because they won't know if their husbands will  come home or not, so they start to smoke. That smell would be so pungent that it would be in my mouth and it would be as though I'm tasting the smoke. I would feel very happy to see the reunited couples. I would also be very sad to see that some women have to leave by themselves because their husbands never came home from the war. I might also feel the fur on my coat since that seemed to be the fashion back then according to the photograph.

3. Something I might want to do to show Robert Doisneu to the world would be to make a slideshow of all him greatest photos and post it on my blog so that people can see all the great work he has done.
