Huntington Story
Janice Jones, a 53 year old woman, lives in Barstow, California. Jones was eating dinner when her dog, Tombo, pulled her 9mm hand gun to the floor setting it off.
The bullet went straight through Jones' right leg at 10 p.m. on Wednesday.
"Jones was transported to Huntington Beach Hospital via ambulance and later was transported to Irvine Medical Center," California Highway Patrol Press liaison Tammy Rye said. Rye explained how Jones was treated after her injury. "It could have been worse," Rye said. He was thankful that there wasn't much cause for panic and no lives were taken from the incident. "Jones didn't have a permit for the gun," Rye said. Rye and other authority figures discussed if they should charge Jones for the accident or not. "The bullet hit two inches from a gas tank," Rye said. Rye explained the seriousness of the situation and what could have happened.
