Avoiding Mergers

This photo doesn't follow the avoiding mergers rule because there is quite a bit going on in the background of this photo, so the viewers focus is not completely on the main subject being photographed.

Balance

This photo shows balance because the two people on the left side of the picture are almost mirroring exactly what the two people on the right side of the picture are doing, so the picture is balanced.

Framing

This picture shows framing because it's taken from the inside of a run down house or building, and the remnants of the wall are surrounding the man on the ladder in the background. Because of this, the man is the main focus and the viewer's eyes go right to the main subject.

Lines

The diagonal lines of the Brooklyn Bridge make the viewer's eyes go trait to the burning twin towers. Also, because the lines of the bridge are diagonal, it creates a dynamic feel to the photo.

Rule of Thirds

This photo shows the rule of thirds because the fire fighters are all on the right side of the picture and are walking forward and to the left which is shown in the picture so that it doesn't look like they are going to walk right out of the photo.

Simplicity

Because of the plain background of this picture, the main focus is on the woman who is also right in the middle of the photo. If the background had been cluttered, it would not be an example of simplicity, but because it is a simple background, it's an example of simplicity.
